A wonderful and beautifully crafted little pixel styled world, interesting and wacky characters and a neat story. I instantly got reminded of Simon The Sorcerer. Just don't expect many difficult puzzles. But the story and the interesting world make it worth the journey.. As a fan of the old style point and click adventure games, I really enjoyed this one. The graphics are nostalgically good and the voice acting pretty good too. It reminds me very much of Simon the Sorcerer in style and humour. The story is great and while the game doesn't seem that long (I finished in 3.2 hours) the length does seem right for the story that's told, if that makes sense. There's no unnecessary wandering around, everything is straight to the point and keeps the story flowing which keeps it interesting. I have played a lot of these types of games and a lot of them have left me bored halfway through. Guard Duty keeps you interested and entertained all the way through. The puzzles could have been a little bit harder - I didn't really find myself stuck at any point. Mostly the solutions were pretty obvious I felt. All in all, I would recommend getting this game and supporting a clearly very talented developer who I hope will go on to make bigger and better adventure games in the future.. I loved this game. Hands down, one of the better ones. Guard duty is a tongue-in-cheek point and click adventure game with relatively easy controls and very little pixel hunting. The charm in the game is definitely there and I found myself chuckling or laughing several times.However... And this is a personal gripe of mine... Once act 3 starts, I felt like the charm was kinda... Dropped. Trying not to spoil too much here, we get a different narrative of the story and are introduced to a new 'hero'. I don't mind, as it's done good. And it sort of is and sort of isn't. It's way too short and a lot of the events are done for you (aka, the game does some sort of 'cutscene' thing, so you're just waiting there, wondering what's happening. But my biggest gripe of the last acts is the voice from the main protagonist. It's... Really frustrating to listen to for nearly an hour, especially since some of the dialogues go on forever. I get that they tried to make him some sort of 'badass' whom had 'seen things in the past', but it just doesn't work as we don't get to see any of that. And compared to the main character in the first two acts, whom is very lively and cheerful, it was a complete turn around. So yeah, if the last acts weren't so on the nose, a bit more fleshed out and the main protagonist had a different voice... I'd say that this game would have been close to perfect. But that's not to say that the game is bad. In fact, the first two acts are flippin' amazing. The characters are amazing, the voice acting is pretty good (again, one that it a bit so-so, but he's not there for 90% of the time). The sounds and music, are really nice and the humour \/ atmosphere is amazing.Certainly pick it up if you like point and clicks, it's worth it!. A charming game built with a lot of love, Guard Duty manages to be like a happy-go-lucky fairy-tale that knows when to take itself seriously, and when not to, which is an exceedingly difficult thing to do for a game as bright and charming as it is!The humor in this game made me laugh a TON, and I really love how the last section of the game really delivers on what's at stake by contrasting just how much charm is lost in the conflict of the story while still maintaining a great tongue-in-cheek delivery.I also found myself just falling head over heels for so many characters - there are some serious great character designs and the game does a fantastic job of really making them come to life and feel like people you should care about. I particularly love the forest troll! It's a fabulous game, if short, and absolutely worth spending the time and money to play it through to the end!. What a cute adventure i loved it and very ncie retro graphic hehe took me around 4 hours so not too short!. Cute retro adventure.Quite short, and a puzzles are not very complex, but it is well worth the price. The upscaling of the low-res pixel graphics is problematic, hopefully it will be improved in a patch.
